Bill Nielsen
Vice President of Sales, Scarborough Sports Marketing
Bill Nielsen leads Scarborough Sports Marketing, a division of Scarborough Research focused on bringing consumer insights to sports teams, leagues and agencies that better inform business strategies, from fan and sponsorship development to ticket sales and media sales. Bill has been an anchor member of Scarborough Sports Marketing for more than a decade, and has helped the division grow its client list to include hundreds of teams, leagues, agencies, colleges and sports venues across the country.
Bill's passion for sports permeates every aspect of his career. With degrees in both aerospace engineering from the University of Minnesota and an MBA in sports management from Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh, he brings together his love of sports with a high-level education in science and math. He applies this unique combination to help marketers in the sports industry use research to help grow their business and solve strategic problems.
Prior to joining Scarborough in 1999, Bill was an account executive in the national sales office for Pace Motor Sports in Chicago (now Feld Motor Sports). He also served as a regional event director for Triple Crown Sports in Denver.
An industry-respected sports marketing research analyst, Bill frequently presents at sports conferences and contributes news and opinion pieces to trade press.
Bill considers himself an avid fan ("avid fan" is defined by Scarborough as "very interested") of all Minnesota teams, where he grew up. He resides in Denver with his wife Caroline (an avid Florida Gators fan) and their three children. |
