Installing PRIME NExT as a Local Installation:
- Insert the PRIME NExT installation CD into your drive. The CD should also start the setup program automatically.
- If not, run D:\setup.exe (where D: is the letter assigned to your CD drive).
- Follow the setup instructions. The default installation directory will be c:\primenxt. You can accept the default or specify any existing drive/directory to install to, provided that “primenxt” is included as the final subdirectory in the path.
- When asked to add a user, type in a selected user name and information and click Add User; click Next. Note: Default User name is created with the installation.
- Click the Done button to complete the PRIME NExT installation.
- When installation is complete, install local market data or total market data. (See " Install PRIME NExT Market Data" below).
- You may want to add a shortcut for PRIME NExT. Open the PRIME NExT folder; open the image subdirectory. Create a shortcut from the visual.exe file. Rename the shortcut “PRIME NExT” on your desktop.
Installing PRIME NExT as a Network Application:
Step A: Setting up the Paths
- Before proceeding with installation you must set up the paths for the application. For detailed instructions on this step see “Setting Up Paths for PRIME NExT as a Network Application” below.
Step B: Installing the Application
- Insert the PRIME NExT installation CD into your drive. The CD should also start the setup program automatically.
- If not, run D:\setup.exe (where D: is the letter assigned to your CD drive).
- Close all applications before proceeding. Follow the setup instructions as prompted on the screen until Choose Destination location screen – follow next steps –
The default is c:\primenxt. Change ONLY the C: drive reference to the network drive letter that you established when you set up paths. (DO NOT choose Browse).
Example:
x:\primenxt. The destination install path must read as x:\primenxt. (where x=network drive letter)
Note: You can specify any exisitng drive/directory to install to provided that "primenxt" is included as the final subdirectory in the path (e.g. X:/scarborough\primenxt)
- A ‘primenxt’ folder will be created automatically. Files and subfolders will begin to install.
- Click NEXT to logo path.
- Click NO to "Add Users Now?" Note: Default User name is created with the installation.
- Click FINISH to complete the setup.
Step C: Creating Users
- Create unique subdirectories for each PRIME NExT user with the following folders preceding the user’s folder:
a) PRIMENXT\HTMLOUT
b) PRIMENXT\SAVE\PRIVATE
- Open PRIME NExT; Select the Studies tab.
- Type in the ‘Default’ in the user field and press Enter.
- Select the User Maintenance tab.
- Enter selected User Name and Information in designated fields.
- Adjust the output path to add a unique user subdirectory (for example, \PRIMENXT\SAVE\HTMLOUT\JOHNSMITH).
- Adjust the private save path to add a unique user subdirectory (for example, \PRIMENXT\SAVE\PRIVATE\JOHNSMITH).
- Click Save User Information.
- Repeat steps 9-16 for each additional user.
Step D: Creating a Shortcut on the Desktop
- Open the ‘primenxt’ folder; open the image subdirectory. Create a shortcut from the visual.exe file. Rename the shortcut “PRIME NExT”
Installing PRIME NExT as an Intranet Application:
See your PRIME NExT administrator for details on intranet installation.
Installing PRIME NExT Market Data:
- Insert the PRIME NExT Market Study installation CD into your drive. The CD will start automatically.
- When the first screen is displayed, proceed as instructed.
Other Installation Instructions:
Setting Up Paths for PRIME NExT as a Network Application
- Create a shared folder called ‘Scarborough’ from the server.
- Grant full control\admin equivalent rights to the Scarborough share for all PRIME NExT users.
- Determine a network letter that will be available to ALL PRIME NExT users. Drive letter MUST be the same.
If Installing from the Server:
Establish the drive letter by mapping a drive within itself on the server to the shared folder.
For example, the server’s C: drive has a Shared folder called Scarborough. Map a network drive to \\servername\scarborough, choosing a drive letter)
If Installing from a Workstation:
The Scarborough share should be the drive letter itself. For example, your X: drive will read scarborough on ‘servername’ (X:) |
